Alleanza are the Architects on this statement project for the Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese on their Westmead Catholic Community campus.
This 6x storey, 52x classroom building offers spaces for up to 1,560 students from K-12, with paired, flexible GLAs offering opportunities for collaboration and larger group work.
The innovative vertical school model delivers dedicated playspaces on Ground Floor, Level 3 and Level 5, as a result students are never more than 1 floor away from a covered external playspace, creating a series of ‘villages in the sky’. Each of these spaces has a variety of active and social spaces, supported by play equipment and furniture. In addition substantial covered external learning spaces are provided to every floor, supported by tiered seating, practical activities benches, whiteboards and screens.
Delivered with extensive landscaped surrounds and upgrades to campus circulation and wayfinding, the development will provide play and learning outcomes in support of existing facilities on the campus.
The GLA building is part of wider masterplanned works to across campus, with following stages to include a church, early learning centre and new administration facilities. Approved through NSW State Significant Development pathway, the project has been delivered to meet both high Greenstar and pedagogical requirements.
